A short policy, because there is very little to describe. We collect an email address if you give us one, and nothing else.

A short policy, because there is very little to describe. We collect an email address if you give us one, and nothing else.

The short version

If you subscribe to the newsletter we store your email address so we can send it to you. That is the only personal data this site collects. There is no advertising network on this site, no tracking pixel, no profiling and no data sold to anyone, ever.

The newsletter

When you submit the subscribe form we store the address you typed, the type of subscription, the site it came from, the date, and the two letter country code the network provides. We use it to send the fortnightly newsletter. We do not use it to build a profile, we do not match it against anything else, and we do not pass it to the newsletter sponsor or to anybody else.

Every issue carries an unsubscribe link. It works immediately. You can also write to us and ask to be removed, and we will do it and confirm that we have.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, and ask for it to be deleted. Given that what we hold is an email address, all three are quick. Write to the address on the contact page.

The Information Commissioner’s Office regulates this area and publishes guidance on what you are entitled to expect, along with a route to complain if you are not satisfied with how we have handled a request.

Cookies

This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no analytics script, no advertising tag, no social media embed and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.

Fonts are loaded from a third party font service, which means your browser makes a request to it in order to fetch them. That is the only third party request this site makes.

Hosting and logs

The site is served through a content delivery network, which keeps operational logs of requests as any hosting provider does. We do not use those logs to identify individuals and we do not combine them with anything else.

Children

This site is written for adults, about provision for children. We do not knowingly collect any data from a child. There is nothing on this site that a child would sign up to and no account to create.

Changes

If this policy changes we will change this page and say what changed. Given how little data there is to describe, we do not expect it to change often.

The fortnightly note

One email every two weeks. What we have published, one thing worth checking on your next visit, and any change in guidance or consumer law that affects families. It carries a clearly labelled sponsor line and that sponsor cannot influence a word of the safety guidance.

We use your address for the newsletter and nothing else. See privacy and the published rate card.
