Corrections
If something on this site is wrong, we want to know, and we would rather hear it bluntly than not at all. Tell us which page, which sentence and what is wrong with it. If you can point at a source, that speeds everything up considerably.
We correct in place with a visible note rather than quietly editing. Errors of fact are corrected as soon as we can confirm the correction. Anything that could lead a parent to a wrong conclusion about a child’s safety is acted on before we argue about anything else.
Register enquiries
If you run a venue and want an entry, the criteria and the rate structure are on the criteria page. There is one rate, it is the same for everybody, and there is nothing to negotiate. What we need from you is the five facts and a signed declaration that they are accurate.
If you are hoping to be reviewed, recommended or featured, we cannot help. No article on this site names a venue and none ever will.
What we cannot do
- Recommend a venue near you. We have inspected nowhere and we name nowhere. The five minute check is designed so that you can do this yourself, in the doorway, in about five minutes.
- Tell you whether a specific venue is safe. We have no information about any specific venue and would not publish it if we did.
- Give legal advice. We describe how the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and the Equality Act 2010 generally work and link to the legislation. Citizens Advice is the right first stop for advice on your own situation.
- Give medical advice. If a child is hurt, the NHS is the source, 111 is the number when you are unsure, and 999 is the number when it is serious.
- Take a complaint about a venue. We are not a regulator. Complaints about health and safety go to the venue and then to the relevant enforcing authority, usually your local council. Complaints about food hygiene go to your local authority through the reporting route the Food Standards Agency publishes. Complaints about advertising go to the Advertising Standards Authority.
How to reach us
Write to the editorial desk at editorial [at] kidsplaycentre.co.uk, replacing the bracketed part with the usual symbol. We read everything. We answer corrections first, register enquiries second, and general questions when we can.
Postal correspondence goes to Northbank Media, the publisher of this title.
Who you are writing to
A small editorial desk that reads the standards and writes about them for parents. Not a regulator, not an inspectorate, not a trade body, and not anybody’s marketing department.
